What's On My Desk | Office Essentials

I simply cannot believe that I am half way through my internship already. This time last year I had only just been offered it, so to think that my time at Intel is already in it's final 5 months is scary! I've learnt a lot during my time as an intern that will help me so so much when it comes to starting a full-time job - if anyone is in two minds about doing one then I would 100% say for you to go for it because it's an amazing experience. :)

As something a different and a little light-hearted, I thought that I would give you all a tiny insight into my desk! I can't say that it's anything too awe-inspiring as I haven't wanted to spend too much time decorating with me only being at Intel for a year, but I have accumulated a few bits and pieces to make it a little more me!
First things first is all of the bits and pieces of stationary which I have picked up along the way. Considering that I'm usually a sucker for anything cute stationary-wise, I was relatively slow in accumulating any bits and pieces - mainly because pretty much everything that I do is computer-based. That said thanks to Viking* I have now got lots of pretty sticky notes to keep all my tasks and deadlines organised, as well as plenty of other bits and pieces  to either help me plan my time more efficiently or keep me occupied when catching up on emails or sitting on hold (read, my ever-expanding elastic band ball). ;)

And what girls desk wouldn't be complete with some tissues in cute packaging and a bottle of the day's nail varnish and lipstick? On my desk at the minute is the much-loved Essie Fiji (a regular one my nails at the minute) and my latest Chanel acquisition, Rouge Coco Shine in 68 Candeur - a lovely light, glossy nude. A moisturiser is also a vital desk essential for me, as a combination of office air conditioning and soap often makes my hands super dry and tight - not very nice when you've got lots of typing to be getting on with!

Obviously there are other items which have made it way onto my desk, such as a super cute week planner pad similar to this one, random Intel-branded goodies which I have accrued from events etc (did you spot the Intel bunny-man in the photo?) :P and a few photos of family, friends and some of the events which I have attended through work.

No doubt I'll have a heap more than that by the time I finish my placement, but for now that's about all that's interesting in my little piece of the office! How have you all customised your desks? I'd love to hear how you've made your office-space a little less bland, whether it's photos or fairy lights! :)

N.B Chocolates and other sweet treats are also a great desk adornment if you want to treat your fellow colleagues - something which the lovely folk at Viking* have also taught me after sending some over in my stationary package! ;)

This Week I #3 | And... Relax

It's been a hectic couple of weeks with my Munich trip with work last week, and the subsequent meetings and general catching up that follows such trips. The weekend after Munich as well as this one I have done all in my power to relax, rejuvenate and generally do as little as possible - and I think I'm finally starting to master the art of giving myself a bit of TLC! So what is the process one would follow when after a bit of a pamper on a Sunday eve? Read on to find out...

It all begins post-unpacking from a weekend of catching up with family and pottering around Tesco - there's no way I can unwind knowing that I have a suitcase full of laundry to do! Once that's out of the way it's catch-up time with the housemates before wandering off upstairs for a bath. Tonight's product of choice? The Lush Comforter Bubble Bar - purchased before Xmas, I only ever need to use the tiniest amount to create a bubbly, beautifully-scented heaven for myself meaning that it's lasted me for ages! And I mustn't forget to mention the Catastrophic Cosmetic face mask also from Lush which always manages to leave my skin super soft and glowing.
The power of a bath's calming nature will never be over-estimated by me. I love wrapping myself up in it's warmth and will lie there for ages watching back-episodes of Gossip Girl and preparing myself for the week ahead. Ahhhh lovely.

Once I've had enough or the water has gone cold - whichever comes first - I continue the snuggly theme by wrapping up in my cosy bathrobe and slippers and proceeding to finish off my face with a slathering of Origins Drink Up Intensive Moisturiser and lacquering up my nails with the nail varnish I have chosen for the week, which was a slightly more neutral option of Essie's Fiji, a beautiful pink-white.

And what tops off the night better than curling up in bed all preened and at peace than writing a blog post about your whole experience? Not much, let me tell you! At 23:55 this post is going out a lot later than I imagined, and with my intentions of running tomorrow morning fading with every minute I stay awake I guess I had better bid thee farewell!

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend and I hope this coming week brings you everything that you want it to! What is your favourite way to unwind? :)

Can't Stop Running To: 'Alive' by Chase & Status

Without music, I cannot run. Some may like to be able to hear nature around them, but after being brought up in city the chances of me hearing anything other than cars driving by is pretty slim. I also use music as my motivation, and in many ways music that keeps me going through the boredom (yep I still dislike running!) and the tiredness when it approaches. And right now, there aren't many tunes on my running playlist at the moment that can get me fired up quite like Chase & Status' track, Alive.

I need to be able to get lost in a track, so that I forget about running and all the thoughts that go with it whether its how far have I ran, or if I'm running fast enough to get a good time. Chase & Status has definitely allowed me to do that. I run faster for longer with this song, and always feel incredibly exhilerated when it's playing - something which very few other tracks have been able to do
Whilst it starts slow the build up is amazing for getting you excited for the chorus, and even though the speed of the music changes the underlying beat is perfectly constant and a perfect rhythm for my pace. As soon as it hits the chorus I feel as energetic as it is physically possible for me to feel, and I always find myself getting lost in the words which fit with running so perfectly!
Of course there are others which I always love to run to, and as I slowly build up my playlist of songs I'm sure I'll find many more which motivate me just as much as this one - but for now this track has cemented itself as my 'Boost' song on the Nike Run app and I think it's upliftingness will be here to stay for a long time!

Comment below with your favourite running tracks! :)
